Drummer and composer Oleg Markov, born in 1990, studied at the Institute of Music Glier in Kiev, Ukraine, and at the KUG University in Graz, Austria. While living in Kiev he was a member of the "Kiev Big Band" and other combo bands where he performed with AiR like: Curtis Fuller, Frank Lacy, James Spaulding, Larry Willis, Gregory Porter, Alex Sipiagin, Essiet Essiet, Don Friedman and others. After studies in Kiev, Oleg moved to Graz where he received his bachelor and master degree. While living in Graz, he was asked to record some albums, he won many diffrent competitions and got a chance to perform with such musicians like: Stjepko Gut, Jim Rotondi, Dena De Rose, Robert Bargad, Renato Chicco, Don Menza, Luis Bonilla, Kevin Mahogany, Bobby Shew and others. Oleg is currently working as a professor for drums and rhythm training at the KMAM R.M.Glier in Kiev, Ukraine and continues to perform all over the world.

2018 - Winner of the special prizes with "The Coquette Jazz Band" on the Jazzshowcase in Budapest, Hungary.
2017 - Winner of the 1st prize as the best ensemble with "Nexus LineUp", album recording and promotion and participation at the "Debrecen Jazz Festival".
2016 - Winner of the 1st prize with “Zoltan Rugovics Trio” at the Zilina International Jazz Contest.
2016 - Winner of the 1st prize with “Zoltan Rugovics Trio” as the Best Band at the International Student Jazz Competition in Romania, Tirgu Mures.
2015 - Winner of the 1st prize with “Matyas Gayer/Sandor Molnar Quartet” at the Zilina International Jazz Contest.
2013 - Playing as a sideman with the downbeat award winning singer Daniel Cacija.
2012 - Winner of the Downbeat award for the best Small Band with “Tuomo Uusitalo Trio”.
2012 - Winner of the Downbeat award for the best Latin Band with “Marco Da Costa Quintet”.
2011 - Finalist of the jazz competition at the North Sea Jazz Festival.
2009 – Winner of the 3rd prize and a chance to record an album at the studio in Katowice, Poland at the international jazz competition in Kiev, Ukraine.

Oleg Markov was born in Kiev, Ukraine in 1990. His first contact with music was at the age of six. His parents sent him to a music school to study Accordion. Very soon Oleg realized that he had a strong passion for drums. When Oleg was 12 years old he started playing in a jazz band at the international jazz festivals, concerts, workshops and jazz clubs. Before entering the institute of music and starting his studies there, Oleg had opportunities to play with the great musicians, and professional bands such as: “Skhide Side”, “Kiev Big Band” together with the AiR and others. At the Institute of Music Gliera he learned a lot about classical music, composers, painting, classical theory. After completing his studies in Kiev, he decided to move to Graz, Austria, to continue his studies at one of the best jazz universities in Europe, where he received a bachelor's and master's degree. Here he's focused on Jazz Composition, Arrangement, Jazz Theory and Improvisation with Prof. Ed Partyka, Michael Abene and Renato Chicco. He's studied Jazz Piano (Prof. Guenter Brueck and Michel Kahr), and Jazz Drums with the great teacher and musician Prof. Howard Curtis. Oleg also had a chance to learn about different styles in jazz music by playing in a variety ensembles such as: Stjepko (Steve) Gut, playing music of Clark Terry, Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker and others. He has performed with Renato Chiccos Masters Ensemble, Guenter Bruecks Latin Ensamble, Robert Bargad, Stage Band with Sigi Feigl (Count Basie, Duke Ellington ect.) and KUG Big Band with Ed Neumeister, Michael Abene and Ed Partyka (featuring works of Ellington, Strayhorn, Neumeister, Abene, and other modern music). He has also gained experience learning about recording while being a part of the Sound Recording Studio. Oleg is currently working as a professor for drums and rhythm training at the KMAM R.M.Glier in Kiev, Ukraine and continues to perform all over the world.
